The America the Beautiful Coin Program
The America the Beautiful Coin Program serves as a tribute to the natural wonder and cultural heritage found within the United States. This program is a series of coins that honor the nation’s magnificent national parks and sites. Each coin features designs that promote awareness of these sites and their significance in American history and culture. Unfortunately, the America the Beautiful quarters are not as popular as the Statehood Quarters that come out previously.
Celebrating America’s natural beauty and heritage, the program also strives to educate the public about the unique attributes that each site possesses. The coins contribute to an appreciation for the treasure that these parks and monuments offer, emphasizing the importance of conservation. Through these silver five ounce coins, collectors can engage with America’s natural beauty.

On the reverse side of each coin, one can find a specific national site. For instance, the natural feature or wildlife symbolizes broader themes related to conservation and national pride. They are chosen to allow viewers to appreciate them for both the beauty of the depicted location and its importance in the national narrative. Will I Consider Purchasing More Silver Five Ounce Coins
Tough call. I love the two I currently have, but what will I have to consider to get all of them. First of all, there are five different coins each year between 2010 and 2020 plus one from 2021. That makes a total of 56. The mint sells them at $149.95 each (2016 price) which means the set will cost around $8,400. Looking at the Red Book, some have gone down in price, while a few have gone up. As of February, 2025, the silver price is around $30 per ounce which makes the current silver value at $150. Another thing to consider is where will I put all of these coins. With each coin being three inches in diameter, a whole set will be taking up quite a bit of space.
Will You Consider Getting A Silver Five Ounce Coin
Definitely not something you’ll put in your pocket as it is three inches in diameter, but if you’re looking a big coin with nice detail, then this coin is it. You won’t find these in circulation. The average mintages for each coin are between 10,000 and 30,000 which makes it more for the collector. It also could be a future investment if the price of silver rises.
